La Cordee's new online retail presence will service the needs of outdoor enthusiasts of all interest levels, beginner to expert. La Cordee intends to eventually expand its iCongo e-business lineup to include iCongo's Cross-Channel Retail platform, which will allow La Cordee to offer in-store pickup or home delivery for those items not available at a specific store location, but where the item is available at other locations within the chain.
La Cordee, which has been online since 2001 but currently does not offer transactional capabilities, plans on rolling out the first phase of the new online storefront this fall.
"After evaluating more than a dozen e-commerce firms, iCongo was selected because of its extensive capabilities and proven effectiveness," said Sandra Larochelle, assistant marketing director for La Cordee. "It was unanimously clear that iCongo was the best platform for our business requirements. Even with the amazing functionality it provided, the iCongo platform also turned out to be the most cost effective platform offering the best ROI."
The e-commerce capabilities provided by iCongo will include a complete suite of marketing tools such as advanced merchandising and SEO capabilities, a comprehensive CRM system, an email campaign management system for marketing and promotional events, a call center system, and an order management system for picking and shipping.
When it is introduced, iCongo's cross-channel capability will help connect all of La Cordee's merchandise so it is available online and in-store, allowing La Cordee to reduce lost sales due to in-store unavailability of products. With the new cross-channel capabilities, La Cordee will create an "endless aisle" strategy, allowing store locations to order out-of-stock products from another channel's merchandise. Stock will be shipped to the customer's shipping address or picked up in the store.
